Mel's Guide to A Good Nights Sleep

Mel's Guide to A Good Nights Sleep

Hi My Loves!

After 15 years in the beauty industry, I've learnt that the secret to great skin and beauty is a good night's sleep.

Running a business leaves me little time, so I have been working on prioritising a good night's sleep, to ensure I am ready to take on whatever tomorrow throws at me. So, I’ve been perfecting my nighttime routine to ensure I get the most out of my few hours of rest.

It’s no secret that great skin and beauty is created while you sleep, with most of our skin cells regenerating between the hours of midnight and 6am.  I mean, they don’t call it beauty sleep for nothing!

Read along if you want to hear my favourite tips for maximising your sleep to work with your beauty routine.

Beauty Sleep Is Created In The Morning

Good night-time habits are born in the morning; so, to set the tone for a productive day, I make sure to always make my bed. Making your bed each morning as you get up, allows you to return to a comfortable and cosy environment after a busy day.

Wind Down Routine

Whether it’s settling in with a good book and herbal tea or putting on your favourite reality tv show 😉, stopping the scroll at least 45 minutes before bedtime is imperative to relaxing the mind and getting a good night's sleep.

Oh, and don’t forget: No caffeine after 4pm- I learnt this the hard way.

It Starts from Within

While your cells regenerate it’s important to feed them with the nutrients they need. I am a huge fan of taking magnesium and collagen. Why? You may have heard about these vitamins in the viral ‘Sleepy Girl Mocktail’, but it’s not just a TikTok Trend, magnesium promotes relaxation and improves sleep quality, while collagen helps with your skin’s elasticity. And most importantly- staying hydrated. As the nights get chillier, remember to drink enough water to keep your skin plump and glowing.

 Make it Dark

I don’t know about you- but I am obsessed with my sleep mask! A good sleep mask works wonders by blocking out the light, and signalling to your brain that it is time to sleep.

Our Feather Sisters sleep mask has changed the game when it comes to my lash health, retention and most importantly comfort due to its 3D contour and memory foam inner.

Embrace the Routine

I’m not going to preach to you about how important removing your makeup is – we should all know this by now- but instead I want to remind you how important it is to add hydrating and calming steps into this part of your routine. For me this means the use of hydrating and brightening serums and an overnight face mask.

I hope you found this helpful and feel inspired to invest in yourself and your self-care routine. If something here made a difference for you, I'd love to hear about it! Share your thoughts with me on social media!

With Love,
